These pages are in development for the proposed Primary Care Centre at Hemel Hempstead Hopsital.  Dacourm Health is a social enterprise organisation that intends to deliver enhanced primary care.  The bidding for this service is now in progress (July 2008)

Dacorum Health Care is a social enterprise set up to create an enhanced primary care service for the people of Hemel and surroundings. There are no shareholders, only members which will be made up of patients and community groups.  This is to be a GP surgery owned by users and local groups.

This is independent from the local hospital trust and from local practices.  In this way it will be an additional service to current primary care practice, offering that element of competition that is likely to improve access and services for all patients in West Herts.   That edge will encourage and enable co-operation between services.  This service will be working alongside the Urgent Care Centre to offer seamless provision for patients using one front door.

The principles are to offer access with both walk-in and booked appointments on the same day, together with the ability to book up to many months in advance.   The new team will provide enhanced services, such that patients are seen and treated, avoiding multiple appointments and rebookings.   There will be an emphasis on a clean bright ambiance and empathy for patients, with an eagerness and imbued interest from all staff to help patients, whatever their difficulties and background.

Clinical standards of the highest calibre will be achieved by audit systems, robust clinical governance and working as a teaching practice. That teaching extends to enabling patients' empowerment and self help, making full use of safe and modern information technology.
