Appointment Times

Reception

Surgery Hours:
The surgery is open and staffed with receptionists from 8.30 to 6.30 daily.

The NHS  has removed weekend cover and Saturday surgeries from from G.P. and we are not allowd to offer such services anymore.

We add patients in the morning surgery, but ring in advance. It is preferable to ring some days in advance to ensure a good mutual time.
  • Try to book in advance
  • Difficult to add you to evening surgeries
  • Suggest hown many 10 minute slots you require.
Appointments:

Ring in for an appointment, preferably a few days in advance; this way we will have the spaces for anyone requiring urgent attention during the morning surgery. We always attempt to be amenable to fitting people into the morning surgery; so we do not get booked up days in advance. You are less likely to be fitted into an evening surgery if we are booked up. Book an appointment slot for each member of the family to be seen. If you think that you require a longer consultation than the usual 10 minutes please let the receptionists know when booking and you will be given two or more slots; this will help us keep to time.

You can book appointments for our nurse practitioner Pippa Washbourne on
Weekday mornings and Wednesday evening. Saturday morning surgeries are for crises.

Emergency Calls are quite infrequent: Apologies to any patients left stranded in the waiting room during surgery times; you may be offered another appointment should this occur.

Emergency Calls and Out of Hours: 6.30pm to 8.30am, and all weekends
Ring  The Surgery number and you will be diverted automatically to the out of Hours service provided by Harmoni on behalf of Dacorum PCT

Archway Surgery was part of the out of hours work to the local GP on-call co-operative DacDoc.  The Government's out of hours strategy which discourages G.P.s from being on-call for their own patients. In Dacorum, from October 2004 Out of hours services was provided by the State. G.P.s are no longer responsible whatsoever for their patients out of hours. Regulations forced practices out of providing out of hours services. We will have to seek permission to visit our own patients out of hours from the new Government contracted out of hours service.

Routine Visits:
These are usually done after the morning surgery or in the early afternoon. Please ring in before 10.30 am to ask for a visit so we can plan our day.

Health Promotion and Health Checks:
Everyone is can have a simple health check if they have not seen a doctor for three years. Men in particular need to be encouraged to have this simple check, since we may be missing more treatable problems in men than in women; men ordinarily do not choose to attend surgeries as often as women. All patients 75 years or older can have an annual a health check, if you cannot come to the surgery, we will visit to do this check. Please book an appointment. It is easier for any tests and examinations to be carried out at the surgery.

Disabled Access:
There is a low level ramp into the surgery, and the building has been designed for wheelchair access. There are two parking spaces in the front of the building for patient use. And a disabled bay. The examination couches in the surgery are hydraulic. We have a bronze disabled access badge from the Local Authority.
